Then Sings My Soul: Official Release!

“Then Sings My Soul” is here!

We are thrilled to announce that “Then Sings My Soul,” the 45-minute film created from our 8-month journey to four different countries filming the lives of four individuals is now available to view!!

This has been a very long time coming! After premiering the film here in Richmond, Virginia in June, enduring our second pregnancy loss in July, and working hard to put together a distribution kit in August, we couldn’t be more relieved to finally complete this step of obedience in releasing this film so that it can encourage and bless!

At this point, there’s too many things to say/too many emotions to process, so let’s take a deep breath and break this down for y’all!

What is Then Sings My Soul?

What would it be like to listen to a person’s intimate recounting of their most transformative God encounters while also watching raw moments of their everyday life unfold? Then Sings My Soul does this with four individuals, weaving their stories together in this poetic collection of testimonies that culminates into a chorus of four unified voices. This film opens with a montage of sky timelapses set to “How Great Thou Art”, after which the narrative picks up at Pius’s home in Nairobi, Kenya in the early morning hours. We find Pius in the center of a vacant church, humbly and honestly praying before beginning the day with his family. From there we transition to Eunice in Mexico who reflects on thoughts on Jesus as we watch her make breakfast, followed by morning moments with Yvrose braiding her daughter’s hair in Haiti, describing worship as a way of life for them. Yvrose looks out from her balcony as we transition to Rushil, who is lit with early morning light from a window within his home in Bangalore, India. After making himself a cup of tea, Rushil climbs the stairs and describes his relationship with God as Father. The film continues on in this way, oscillating between these four humans as they share with us pieces of their most transformative encounters with God. Many of these moments are provision stories, moments of reckoning with the gift of Jesus, moments of seeing God’s promises become reality as well as the moments of calling God into question in the midst of tragedy. As we hear each person recount a story from their past, we also watch the moments of their “now” and see how these experiences have shaped them into the person we are watching on screen. The film is beautifully composed by Orlando Palmer aka IAMSON. His work guides our hearts and spirits and helps to string the collection of testimonies together in a way that leads us toward the culminating final moments of the film where all four individuals voices join together in one soul response.

How do I watch it?

Since this is literally a film made up of testimony, we are hugely excited about the idea of groups of people who are already in community together gathering to experience this film and then getting the chance to respond to it and process it out loud to each other. We don’t care if that is in a church building or in a living room, but we so encourage you to get some people together to watch this to get the full experience! We have created a kit that you can access at WildBridgeFilms.com/ThenSingsMySoul.

In this distribution kit we include ways to talk about the film that help people understand what it's about and get excited about watching it.

We include the trailer, a flyer, and the film itself with subtitles. (All of the characters are English speakers, but their mother tongue is heavily present in their English accent, so for some it is more enriching to be able to catch every word through subtitles.)

We include a few discussion questions to help guide your group in a time of response. We have gotten to experience this a few times and it has been our absolute favorite to get to see how God is speaking to people through this film!

Additionally, we encourage responses, written or short video responses of individuals, to be sent to us so we can post them on the film’s webpage to use to continue testifying to God’s presence in this work. Once you have watched it and experienced it with your group, please share about it with others! Send everyone you think should watch it to WildBridgeFilms.com/ThenSingsMySoul or encourage them to email us at ThenSingsMySoulFilm@gmail.com.

Our current plan for distribution is the organic ripple effect of people having a genuine experience with it and then telling others about it. Because we are so excited about the small group experience, we are not currently making the film public through streaming sites, and prefer people to interact with us in order to receive the film.

How do we feel about all the support we’ve been shown these past several years?

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! We are so incredibly thankful for all of the amazing people who have supported this film into being. Thank you for praying, for affirming, for encouraging and for sponsoring the making of this film. We absolutely could not have done this without all of the people who have come together to make it happen. You will see a special section on this in the Making Of Then Sings My Soul video! Please let us say we do not view this as our project but as God’s and how he brought a bunch of people together to bring it to fruition is mind-blowing for us to be a part of. We are so humbled to have been a part of it. One final step of support you can participate in is sharing the film’s web page WildBridgeFilms.com/ThenSingsMySoul with others once you’ve experienced it! Now that it is all ready to release, we are excited for this gift to go out and have all the impacted God intends for it and that will happen through people like you spreading the word! Thank you for everything! †

culture very different from our own for two months each. We hope in some small way to join Christ’s work of building bridges among his people by creating a film showcasing a handful of honest, inspiring human
