If I learned one thing in film school, it is this: Don't make a film about something you already know the answer to.
One of the primary focuses of the documentary in the various countries we are visiting is to see different ways in which Jesus speaks to his followers, which can be shared across cultures. We recognize that the body of Christ is not limited to the specific, local church that we physically gather at (though it certainly is that), but rather it is comprised of believers from every nation, gathering all over the world. Just like the members of a living body need to work together, communicate, and give to each other in order to function and thrive, so it is with the vast global body of Christ. The question we carry is this: What does the group of believers in Kenya have to communicate and gift to the rest of Christ's body? Likewise, what is Haiti revealing about Christ that will nourish the rest of us? Mexico? India? Although this is obviously far from a comprehensive representation of the Christian international population, we believe it is part of a work that builds bridges of camaraderie, unity, and brotherly love between the various members that make up Christ's church.
So the question we are inviting others to answer, and therefore contribute as a question, is:
What is one thing that you would like to know about the lives of Christians in other cultures?
We will take these questions with us, keeping them in the forefront of our minds, seeking answers both directly and indirectly as we film. Some of the questions that we have received so far are:
"What are Christians hoping for?"
"How does church community extend into daily life?"
"What kind of social pressure is there in talking about your faith?"
